SPJ/LA looking to hire part-time accountant

The Greater Los Angeles chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ/LA) is looking to hire a part-time accountant. This key leadership position plays a vital role in managing the chapter’s finances and ensuring compliance with nonprofit requirements while supporting SPJ/LA’s mission to promote and protect journalism in Southern California.

This person is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing expenses, preparing reports for both the board and SPJ National, and ensuring timely tax and charitable filings. The role also involves supporting the planning and financial reconciliation of SPJ/LA’s signature event, the Distinguished Journalist Awards banquet, as well as advising the board on fiscal matters.
